Growth and Infrastructure

Clearfield and Syracuse are growing fast, and our infrastructure must keep pace. Residents deserve roads, transit, utilities, and public services that match the scale of our population—not lag years behind it. I’ll work to ensure growth is coordinated, responsible, and supported by the transportation and infrastructure investments our community needs. WFRC’s Unified Transportation Plan and Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) make clear that northern Davis County is one of the fastest-growing parts of the Wasatch Front—and that transportation, housing, and land-use decisions must be integrated if we want growth to strengthen, rather than strain, our communities. The Plan outlines targeted investments in roadway capacity, transit access, active-transportation networks, and safety improvements that are directly relevant to Clearfield and Syracuse. As a legislator, I will advocate for policies that align with WFRC’s data-driven recommendations: coordinating land-use decisions with transportation planning, prioritizing infrastructure that improves mobility and safety, and ensuring state resources support local communities as they manage growth. My commitment is to champion real infrastructure investments so families, commuters, and businesses in House District 14 can thrive as our region continues to expand.

Housing Affordability & Neighborhood Stability

Housing affordability is the top concern I hear from families in our district—and it’s personal to me. My own young adult children wonder whether they’ll ever be able to afford a home in the community where they grew up. We need practical, Utah-based solutions that make homeownership attainable for the next generation, while maintaining local control. Utah’s Statewide Strategic Housing Plan outlines clear steps to expand housing options, reduce regulatory barriers, and encourage responsible growth. But no single level of government can solve this alone: it will take collaboration between cities, the state legislature, federal partners, and private industry to increase the supply of starter homes, remove red tape to streamline permitting, and ensure infrastructure keeps pace with growth. In the legislature, I will support policies that align with the state plan, encourage local–state cooperation, and promote housing solutions that strengthen our communities.

Safe Communities and

Supporting Law Enforcement

Keeping our neighborhoods safe is one of my top priorities. House District 14 depends on strong partnerships between law enforcement, first responders, and the communities they serve. I will support policies that give our officers the tools, training, and staffing they need—while strengthening the trust that keeps our cities safe. Clearfield and Syracuse rely on dedicated police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and dispatchers who work around the clock to keep families safe. Through my involvement in local service clubs, I’ve prioritized and supported first responders, and I’ve seen firsthand the pressures they face as our region grows. In the legislature, I will champion investments in officer recruitment and retention, mental-health support for first responders, modern equipment, and strong inter-agency coordination. I’ll also back community-focused policing strategies that build trust and ensure residents feel safe in their homes, schools, and public spaces. Safe communities don’t happen by accident—they’re built through consistent support, accountability, and partnership between the state, local governments, and the men and women who protect us every day.

Strong Schools & Support for Families

The strength of our education system determines the ability of future generations to confidently work, reason and contribute to their communities. Our declining enrollment – both locally and statewide – demands thoughtful planning and taxpayer-friendly solutions as we commit to investment in what matters most: our children. Utah’s Constitution currently dedicates income tax revenues to public education, and discussions around possible tax reform have raised understandable questions about how to best protect and sustain long-term education funding. I believe these conversations can be healthy and productive if they begin with a shared commitment of stability for our schools. As Utah faces both declining enrollment in some areas and rapid growth in others, we need thoughtful solutions that ensure every district can meet students’ needs without uncertainty about future resources. As someone who works directly in public education, I see firsthand the complexities that come with budgeting, staffing, enrollment shifts, and accountability expectations. I believe that any adjustment to our tax structure must continue to provide reliable, predictable funding for students — and that all taxpayer-supported education programs, regardless of delivery model, should be held to clear and equal standards of transparency and accountability. My focus is on creating a system where parents, educators, and taxpayers have confidence that every dollar is being used effectively to support student success.

Fiscal Responsibility, Local Control

& Government Transparency

Fiscal responsibility and local control are core Utah values. Taxpayers deserve leaders who respect their hard-earned dollars, keep government efficient, and ensure decisions are made as close to the community as possible. I will work to strengthen transparency, reduce unnecessary spending, and support policies that allow cities, counties, and school districts to govern effectively without overreach from the state. Utah’s long-term success depends on disciplined budgeting, efficient and transparent government, and policies that keep decision-making close to the people. For fast-growing communities like Clearfield and Syracuse, local leaders understand their needs far better than a one-size-fits-all mandate from the state. I will support budget practices that use tax dollars wisely, avoid unfunded mandates, strengthen public oversight, and ensure residents have clear, accessible information about how tax dollars are spent and how policy decisions are made. My goal is a government that is responsible, responsive, and locally focused—one that uses resources prudently and respects the community it serves.
